The Weekly Briefing
Hello All,
First, a shout out to Chester County for helping ICC, CCMF, Dragonflies Unite, and Way Forward raise $9029 for Chester County Food Bank. A federal yearly grant of $250,000 was discontinued by the current administration's government reforms and cuts under the ruse of efficiency. Thank you so much for participating and helping your fellow neighbors in need.
May 1st, also known as May Day, is our next rally at the Historic Courthouse in West Chester. May Day is a celebration of workers and a time to honor the labor movement. Around the world, it is recognized as International Workers' Day—a day to acknowledge the achievements of workers and the ongoing fight for labor rights. In the United States, May 1st was the date chosen for a historic nationwide strike demanding an eight-hour workday. And here we are, with government workers being fired without any consideration for the consequences—either for the workers themselves or the critical roles they fulfilled. Join us at our next ICC event, MAY DAY 2025, as we honor this important day and the hardworking individuals who form the backbone of our country—workers who deserve the rights they've fought for, including the right to unionize. See details below or sign up HERE.
These are issues that should be of grave concern to all Americans:
(1)The deportation of anyone in the US without our constitution's founding principle of due process to a notorious prison in another country (Kilmar Abrego Garcia has become the face of this issue),
(2) The administration's noncompliance of court orders with impunity,
(3) H.R.22 or the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act) which threatens to disqualify eligible voters over technicalities or create unnecessary barriers to voting,
(4) The systematic dismantling of vital government agencies like the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs, rendering them incapable of effectively serving the citizens who have rightfully earned their support.
This list is by no means comprehensive. The injustices being committed by this government against its own people are too numerous to name in a single statement. But one truth must remain front and center: they work for us—not for billionaires, not for fascist cronies, and not for administrative officials drunk on power.
ICC NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK INITIATIVE - VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
In just the past few weeks, Indivisible Chester County has grown to more than 3,600 members. You’ve seen the winds of change and heeded the call to set sail. Indivisible is not only about the actions we take—it's also about the strong, connected community we’re building together. With such rapid growth, we need your help to ensure everyone feels welcome and empowered to get involved. This new Neighborhood Network initiative will help new members form meaningful connections and foster a supportive community ready to take local action together.
We’re currently seeking Neighborhood Captains—volunteers who will welcome new members in their area and host casual gatherings, with support from the ICC leadership team as needed. These casual meet-ups might include meet-ups for coffee, group volunteer opportunities, supporting candidates in the upcoming election, etc.

CURRENT ISSUES
There is one figure who deserves far more public scrutiny: Stephen Miller. He is believed to be the architect behind 47's harsh immigration and DEI policies. He works discreetly in the behind the scenes and deserves a lot more public attention for his influence. More info on Stephen Miller HERE and HERE as a starting point.
This raises an important question: What might public pressure look like if it were directed at him—and could it be effective? Increased visibility and accountability could be powerful tools in challenging the policies he promotes.
Democrats are starting to step up! We need to encourage this. Thanking MOCs for showing up and speaking out should be thanked and acknowledged. It is hard to get politicians out of their beaurocratic bubble. A lot of credit goes to Citizens United paving the way for our government to be owned by the wealthy, corporations and PACs. Shout outs to Bernie Sanders, AOC, Chris Van Hollen, Jamie Raskin, Jasmine Crockett, Cory Booker and I am sure I am missing someone. We need to show support and thank them for showing up.
